Who is in the SPOTLIGHT?
THE BOOKSHACK IS IN THE SPOTLIGHT!
The Book Shack, located in the former 23,000 square foot Borders Books, in the Independence Mall, Kingston, is not your typical, mainstream bookstore. Bustling with energy, patrons can choose from thousands of great titles at discounted prices, listen to storytellers and lectures, be a part of author signings and workshops, and be entertained by comedy shows and musical guests.
The innovative concept, placing best sellers alongside value books and bringing an entertainment aspect to the space, was developed by Erik Christensen and Jason Zutaut, when they opened their first location in October of 2011. “We have had an overwhelming response from the community that a bookstore was opening”, says Christensen. The Book Shack fills the void left when many “big box” book stores have shuttered their locations across the country.
The Book Shack features “OnStage” an arena to showcase everything from best-selling author signings to nationally known musical guests. “OnStage” has the capacity for up to 250 spectators.
Since the opening of the Kingston location, the duo has recently opened another Book Shack location, inside the Hanover Mall.
The Book Shack is a wonderful place to EXPLORE thousands of great books at great prices, CONNECT over coffee and cupcakes with friends and family and LEARN something new from one of the many workshops or visiting authors.
Check The Book Shack website, www.thebookshack.net, for upcoming events at “OnStage.

The death of a 19-year-old college student has served as a somber reminder of the extreme danger that food allergies can pose. Cameron Groezinger-Fitzpatrick, a Bryant University freshman, died on March 8 after eating half of a cookie. The teen, described in his obituary as an "outgoing" athlete with a promising future, had not known that the baked good had contained peanuts. read more here...
